DEFINITE REQUESTS

Pastor Cheri

Thank God for the opportunity and privilege of prayer. God gave us this beautiful blessing and medium with which to talk with Him. It is a precious time of fellowship with the Father. A time where you separate yourself from everything else setting your focus on God.
In prayer, you should be able to talk to God as one whom you have a relationship with, not as though you are praying and hoping you would be heard some day. No! You are in a relationship with God. Even Jesus said,"At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you: For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God." John 16:26-27.
So just like you talk to someone you are close to, you talk to Him same way and even more. Hallelujah! This is because, there is no other person that knows you better than Him.
Also, as you relate with His Word, you get to know Him more. Paul says in 2 Peter 1:2, "Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,"Paul talks here, about knowing Him. Also, there is an advantage to knowing Him more, Grace and Peace, is multiplied unto you. Hallelujah! Do you want the grace of God upon your life multiplied? Do you want abundance of peace in your life? Then get to know Him more. Hallelujah! The more you know Him, the more you love Him.
This should help you understand your communication pattern with the Father. Praise God! You talk to Him as a Father and a friend. Not with fear. You should have godly reverence for God. This is the kind of fear we should have for Him. He is God, we ought revere Him.
So whenever you require a need met, in asking God, you should be definite, you should be specific. It's not a time to try to make God understand your situation, you should be able to tell Him exactly what you want. Some end up complaining about what they want and not actually asking. They actually want God to look with pity on them and have mercy.
God was specific when He said,"If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it." John 14:14.Also, Philippians 4:6, says,"Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God."Don't explain the situation, just ask, He already knows, only needs you to ask. Praise God!The Amplified Classic says,"Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God."He wants to answer, that is why He said so. Praise God!
There is an instance in the Bible. Turn to John 5:2-8"Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches. In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water. For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease He had. And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years. When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that He had been now a long time in that case, He saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole? The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me. Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk."
Notice, this man had been sick for 38 long years. He came in contact with Jesus and all he did was complain."Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me."No wonder He was sick that long! But thank God for his mercies, Jesus healed him.
Don't complain to God in prayer, be definite. Jesus saw where that man was, He saw His condition."When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that He had been now a long time in that case," but He still complained even after He asked Him "Wilt thou be made whole?"You should say exactly what you want. Take advantage of God’s extraordinary power in prayer by saying exactly what you want. Praise God!
God doesn't want you crying to Him, but to express your faith. That you decided to pray alone meant you already trusted in His ability and power to meet your request, so quit the complaints and tell him what you want. With faith, you can get anything. You take possession of what you want by faith.
Abraham, our Father of faith, staggered not at the promise of God, but was strong in faith giving glory to God. The Bible says,"And being fully persuaded that, what He had promised, He was able also to perform." Romans 4:21.He was convinced beyond every doubt that God was able to do it. Hallelujah!
Build your faith strong. Have an accurate understanding of God’s Word. Let the wisdom of God inspire you to make the right requests in prayer so that you can achieve more than your expectations. Hallelujah!
Lift up your hands and talk to God now, tell Him exactly what you want! Pray now!
