PRAYER
Thank you Lord for the impact of Your Word in our lives, we receive it gladly, opening ourselves to be imparted again by your Spirit. We receive all that the Word has for us today, in Jesus' Name. Amen.
It's our first fruit Service today and I believe you are ready.
Many people have never given God a firstfruit offering. You never used to even pay your tithe. You had to start when everyone around was paying and you didn't want to be the only one left out. For some, you heard about the repercussion and quickly adjusted, you started paying to avoid any repercussion.
Yes, there are repercussions which we ought to look at when we give but you must also note that God said so, He instructed from His Word for it to be done and so, because He is God and you love Him, you ought to do as He has said. Hallelujah!
For some, you don't know enough to give it. That is why this message is coming to you today.
The Bible says,
"Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine."
Proverbs 3:9-10
This means, if you want your barns to be filled with plenty and your presses burst forth with new wine, you should give your firstfruit.
This is one of the benefits of giving your firstfruit. You live in plenty, in prosperity and in abundance. Hallelujah!
The revelation of the firstfruit came before the Law of Moses. It is a principle in God's Kingdom.
Turn to Genesis 4:3-5. It says,
And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD. And Abel, He also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering: But unto Cain and to his offering He had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.
From the Scripture, we can see that Abel brought His firstfruit to God, And Abel, He also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof.
Your firstfruit is the first and the best of your income. This was what Abel gave to God. The Bible says, Abel offered a more excellent sacrifice than Cain.
"By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which He obtained witness that He was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it He being dead yet speaketh." Hebrews 11:4.
Take a cue from Abel when giving your firstfruit. He did it excellently, God was satisfied with it, it's therefore, worthy of emulation. Hallelujah!
In the New Testament, Romans 11: 16 says,
"For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches."
Holy means sanctified, separated or consecrated. He sanctifies the entire lump, when you give Him your firstfruit. This is another benefit of giving your firstfruit, the lump is sanctified.
When you give the first and the best of your income, He sanctifies the others such that there is no loss, it is preserved for you. Praise God!
When you receive a raise of any kind, whether in your salary or a blessing of any kind, separate the firstfruit unto the Lord and He'll sanctify the entire lump, this means, He'll watch over your remaining resources. He'll watch over it by Himself.
He'll protect your money and your property, He'll defend them and ensures nothing touches them. He'll defend everything He has blessed you with because you have given Him what belongs to Him.
The firstfruit belongs to God, it's not for spending, it's not for your parents, your uncle or aunt, it belongs to God, so must be given to Him. Hallelujah!
When you don't give your firstfruit, you are putting your resources in a bags with holes. This gives room for the devourer, where you experience losses, you cannot account for your finances. It's always into unwanted and unnecessary purchases or spendings, you cannot account for your expenditures.
This is what many have found themselves in. Don’t find yourself there before you begin to do it correctly. You have the Word to instruct, lead and guide you in this one so you never have to say you didn't know.
Follow the Word and keep the devourer away from your finances and your substance by giving your firstfruit today. Hallelujah!
